Rimaldis Viksraitis graduated from the Vilnius Technical School No. 47 with a specialisation in photography. For ten years he worked as a photographer in Sakiai. Since 1985 he has been a member of the Union of Lithuanian Art Photographers. In 1997 the International Federation of Art Photography (FIAP) designated him a Photoartist (AFIAP). In 2000–01 and 2003–04 he was awarded a State stipend from the Ministry of Culture of the Lithuanian Republic.
Major works include Slaughter (1982–86), Nude in a Desolate Farm (1991), A Meadow at 11.00 (1995), This Crazy World (1995–), Grimaces of the Weary Village (1998–), Farmstead Children (2000–), Farmstead Dreams (2002–).
Rimaldas Viksraitis presented his work at the Rencontres d’Arles in 2007, nominated by Martin Parr for the Discovery Award: Rimaldas Viksraitis at the Grande Halle.
