Born in 1977 in Paris.
Lives and works in Paris.
A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles, Marina Gadonneix meticulously observes places of our everyday existence in their construction and mise en scène. She draws awareness to the porosity between documentary and fiction, simulation and illusion. The nature of her work hence questions the way representation is fabricated and its many phoney versions and simulacra.
Her work has been presented in the following places: Phillips de Pury in New York, Les Rencontres d’Arles, the Hyères Festival de Mode et de Photographie and the Fondation d’Entreprise Ricard pour l’Art Contemporain in Paris. The winner of the Prix HSBC, in 2006 she published Paysages sur commande with Actes Sud. Her latest book Landscapes (Blackout), realised in collaboration with the artist Marcelline Delbecq and published by RVB Books, has just been released.
Marina Gadonneix presented her work at the Rencontres d’Arles in 2006: Televisions and in 2012: This is not an Exercise.
