Photographer and visual artist, Samer Mohdad was a member of Agence VU’ from 1988 to 2002.

From 1991, he carried out several photo essays, including War Children, Lebanon 1985-1992 and Return to Gaza. In 1997, he participated in the creation of the Arab Image Foundation and from 2001 to 2003 he established and directed the Centre for Images at the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

He has received several awards, including the 1999 Mother Jones Award in San Francisco for his book Mes Arabies (the first volume of his The Arabs trilogy, which was published by Actes Sud). In 2011, he received the Pioneer Photographer Award from the National Geographic Society, All Roads Photography programme.
