Nouvel Observateur / Special Photo, All alone

At Claude Perdriel’s request, Robert Delpire took over the editing of Spécial Photo No. 8. Published as a supplement to Le Nouvel Observateur in 1977, this series was a landmark in the history of photography publishing in terms of image quality (Lewis Carroll, Diane Arbus, Disfarmer, Richard Avedon and Cartier-Bresson) and writing (with authors like Susan Sontag, Claude Roy, Julio Cortázar, Pierre Gascar and Michel Tournier). This eighth issue, entitled Tout Seul (‘All Alone’) contains photographs by Raymond Depardon, Michael Ackerman, Roger Ballen, Lisette Model, Alexander Rodchenko and Shoji Ueda, and texts by Dominique Eddé, Sylvain Roumette, Jean-Luc Nancy, Arlette Farge, Marc Augé ou Laurent Gaudé. Une exposition à la chapelle du Méjan accompagne la publication de l’ouvrage.

Exhibition organized by Le Méjan.

Exhibition venue: chapelle Saint-Martin du Méjan, Rencontres d’Arles 2009.
